Cherry Coombe

When I got my first lecturing job in 2004 a friend rang to congratulate me on starting to live life when many of my friends had started to stop. I seem to live my life backwards, making its narratives fit the moment.

Now I do several things.

I lecture in Creative Writing as well as some broadly socio-linguistic subjects at under-graduate level.

I run ‘Write Yourself Happier’ Word-shops: unraveling life stories, re-writing futures.

I work with writers as a literary consultant as their texts develop and I copy-edit manuscripts adding commentary.

I work with people one to one and in groups as a Happiness Tsar and a Creativity Coach.

I write poems. My first collection On The Boats was published by UoBPress/Legend-paperbooks in 2018 and new responses to daily life appear here, as poems and short-stories, under the tab Posts above, and sometimes on YouTube, link below.

I run a local fringe poetry society, All Talk and Small Talk Poets. We meet once a month and online. Contact me for details.

I find my very short films on YouTube amuse me and embarrass my children. They and theirs live at far distance from me and each-other; our combined air-miles embarrass me. An embarrassment of love fills my life.

Thank you.
